£200+ for a single rave flyer
£200+ for a single rave flyer
Had been watching a few Genesis flyers on ebay (sold last night) ....5 Genesis 1989 flyers sold separately made over £900. One sold for just over £200. Certainly the most expensive flyer i've ever seen!
Made me wonder just how rare these flyers are....does anyone know how many were printed in the first place? Going to have to watch out for fakes when they are selling for these prices!!

Yeah crazy prices considering 5 years ago they would go for £30 - £40 if I remember right.Green wrote:Had been watching a few Genesis flyers on ebay (sold last night) ....5 Genesis 1989 flyers sold separately made over £900. Should check with Wayne how many they did in a print run. Its a good question. These Genesis and Sunrise flyers that easily reach £100 - £200 may have had 1000's printed. Especially Sunrise, perhaps 10s of 1000's.

Cheers PM...great to have the screen shot.
Surprised not to have seen more of the early Genesis flyers on ebay over the years. Even if there were 1000's made I wonder whether collectors were less drawn to them than other flyers around at the same time....imo Genesis didn't make the most attractive flyer.....so maybe less have been saved!!

I checked the other day and the most expensive up until now since I'd been recording eBay stats was £155, and we have now had a couple over £200. absolutely bonkers prices!
Re: £200+ for a single rave flyer
Agree with you there, Genesis weren't the most 'designed' flyers but had a certain DIY punk / xerox feel to them as Wayne will no doubt agree they would be cut and pasted and photocopied in some cases. Ive heard the parties were legendary so I guess people that went to them want to get hold of the flyers from the paties they went to and must have deep pockets.Green wrote:Cheers PM...great to have the screen shot.

If you was doing a party where you didnt want the police in that area to know, maybe getting 1000 would be risky.
Also flyers that are given out for those partys was often givin out after a party the week or few weeks before or at meeting points services etc etc
They wasnt that many printed because funds wasnt there before the event...
And it was always best... to try keeping it to you and friends...

Re: £200+ for a single rave flyer
Whether a flyer is really rare or not does have an impact on the price they sell for but that's not everything that goes into making a £200 flyer. Some really rare and early flyers can still be picked up for a few pounds...but not from the likes of Sunrise, Genesis, Biology etc! Noticed a Biology flyer (World in Action) sold for £252 on ebay this week and a Shoom (Heart) flyer sold for £265. Crazy. These are vintage movie poster prices!
Interesting to see a lot more 1988/89/90 flyers coming on ebay at the moment. Sellers obviously attracted by the high prices. So what factors go into making a really valuable flyer?

Some of the flyer prices have indeed been crazy. Agree that the increase in listings for 88/89 flyers would seem to be due to the high prices. Can be hit and miss with prices, but Genesis , Sunrise and Shoom always go high at the moment.Bobby wrote:Whether a flyer is really rare or not does have an impact on the price they sell for but that's not everything that goes into making a £200 flyer.
