Some Important News Regarding IAAO (14th July 2010)

Post by China Rising » 14 Jul 2010, 12:22

I've just received word from my hosting company which host this site and the Trance site that they are stopping their web hosting services. The servers will be switched off within the next 10 days.

This means that I will have to move both sites to a new company.

Because the site is generating a lot of bandwidth, I have been advised to go for a VPS (Virtual Private Server) account.

I have now signed up for a VPS account with another company (don't ask about the cost as it's quite a lot for VPS)

This means that at some point in the next few days, maybe even today, the site will be closed and then moved to the new company. The site has to close during this time for obvious reasons.

The good news, or at least I think it's good, is that we will more or less be on the next best thing to a dedicated server. A dedicated server will cost far too much and a VPS is the best option.

I will try and update you as much as I can over the coming days, but please prepare for some down time.

Just waiting for the nameservers to transfer over. It's just a case of the waiting game now before I can do anything else :-w

Nameservers now transferred over, although this may not be the case for some. If you can't log in when the board goes live, first of all try deleting all your cache and cookies. If it still doesn't work, you may have to wait a little longer.

The forum should be back open in the next few hours. I just have to now go over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure everything works.

Some of you may still be seeing the message that the forum is closed due to the server being changed.

This is the remains of the forum on the old server and is not the real site. It's like a ghost site which doesn't exist.

The reason for this is because it takes time for the whole of the net to catch up with the name server change.

Some of you are having no trouble getting in and some of you are. It just takes a little time for things to catch up around the world :)
