1991-92 events need ID'ing

Post by TREBOR74 » 07 Oct 2014, 18:46

Hi all

I recently caught up with an ol' rave buddy from late 91 when we started talking about events we went to.
Both attended Gas nightclub every Thursday or Friday (probably Thursday) either late 91 or early 92 called Gas. It was in cheltenham and had loads of big DJs (donovan smith, lomas, ratty, easygroove, slipmatt, etc.etc. also MCs Saxon r.dee) all happened in a small basement part of the club (it held up to about 50-75 people max).
Anyone know the name of these nights and preferably ever seen a flyer for these events as would love to reminisce. I used to have some of the flyers which were A5 i think, and printed pretty cheaply but had 4-weekly line-up.
It was going for a few months and being from cheltenham, it could have been Obsession's Gideon or Fantazia's James (pretty sure his brother organised this).
Is there anywhere I can post this question for all to think about?
Any help of course is much obliged :-B
Rob

Hi gents

really sorry for being a ghost past month but just read your messages and alas sadly this is not the place. Location: St James' Square, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire GL50 3QG.
The MCs were definitely robbie dee and saxon, the DJ line up was usually either Lomas or Easygroove (remember Top Buzz too) and the club nights were late 1991-early 1992. That info I remember vividly but actually being there is a bit of a blur...
I am really struggling to nail these events which went on for a few months :(

Both event nights were held on Thursdays but at Gas nightclub, there was only one basement where the hardcore event was held. It states on flyer there is a garage room as well as hardcore room which was correct as two large rooms at Cafe Continental. I remember going to these events. There was a big fight between Easygroove's crew and spiral tribe, over a bloody recording from the night! All too often this happened around gloucestershire.
Upstairs in Gas (ground, 2nd, 3rd floor were interconnecting) had cheesy mainstream music. They closed the entrance from ground-basement when they put on these nights and had a separate entrance
